Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1

The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1 was held at 5:00 p.m., June 6, 2023 at the Grand Lake Library. Board members present were Mitchel Kelley, Thomas Cox, Marck Smythe and Robert Trahan. Gregory Gray, Delia Sanders, and Karl Styron were absent.
The meeting was called to order by Thomas Cox, who then asked for the reading of the minutes from the last meeting, April 12, 2023. A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried that the minutes be approved as printed. A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried to approve the financial statement.
In old business, Robert Trahan made a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley and carried to purchase a Chevrolet truck to replace the older spray truck. Quotes were received on different makes and the Chevrolet was the low quote.
In new business, Marck Smythe made a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to update the employee policy manual to coincide with the Police Jury’s to update changes made regarding retired employees.
Next, the minimum drivers’ pay was discussed. Mitchel Kelley made a motion, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried to update the newest drivers pay ,that are currently employed, by 25 cents due to a miscommunication on the drivers rate. New drivers pay will stay at $12 per hour.
The next meeting will be decided at a later date. There being no further business, Mitchel Kelley made a motion, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried to adjourn the meeting.
