Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1

The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1 was held at 4:00 p.m., April 12, 2023 at the Grand Lake Library. Board members present were Mitchel Kelley, Thomas Cox, Marck Smythe and Robert Trahan. Gregory Gray, Delia Sanders, and Karl Styron were absent.
The meeting was called to order by Thomas Cox, who then asked for the reading of the minutes from the last meeting, February 8, 2023. A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried that the minutes be approved as printed. A motion was made by Robert Trahan, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to approve the financial statement.
In new business, Mitchell Kelley made a motion, seconded by Robert Trahan and carried to leave the approve Amendment No 2 Cooperative Endeavor Agreement and Payment in Lieu of Tax Assessment.
Next, Mitchel Kelley made a motion, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried to adopt millage at same rate as previous year, which is 5.97 mils.
A motion was then made to add 2 items to the agenda. Mitchel Kelley made the motion, seconded by Robert Trahan to add the items. First item was to give Josh the authority to enforce the contract for the contract plane if the need arises due to our plane having its annual maintenance. Mitchel Kelley made the motion, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried to allow Josh to enforce the contract.
The second item was to allow the purchase of 2 trucks on state contract to replace a couple of spray trucks that are in need of being replaced. Mitchel Kelley made the motion, seconded by Robert Trahan, and carried to approve the purchase.
The next meeting will be decided at a later date. There being no further business, Robert Trahan made a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to adjourn the meeting.
