Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1

The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1 was held at 5:00 p.m., February 8, 2023 at the Grand Lake Library. Board members present were Mitchel Kelley, Thomas Cox, Marck Smythe and Dede Sanders. Gregory Gray, Robert Trahan, and Karl Styron were absent.
The meeting was called to order by Thomas Cox, who then asked for the reading of the minutes from the last meeting, December 12, 2022. A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Dede Sanders, and carried that the minutes be approved as printed. A motion was made by Dede Sanders, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to approve the financial statement.
In new business, Mitchell Kelley made a motion, seconded by Dede Sanders and carried to leave the officers the same as the previous year. The officers are as follows: Thomas Cox – President, Dede Sanders – Vice President, and Gregory Gray – Secretary.
Then the backup pilot contract was discussed. A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Dede Sanders, and carried to renew the contract with no changes.
Next, Dede Sanders made a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley to engage the CPA for 2023, which will be Coy Vincent with Gragson, Casiday, and Guillory, LLP
Then chemical bids and contingency aerial contract bids were opened and reviewed. Bids were as follows:

Dede Sanders, then made a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to approve the lowest bids.
The recent purchase of Dibrom was discussed. A purchase of 50 drums of dibrom was purchased at last year’s bid price.
A motion was then made to add an item to the agenda. Mitchel Kelley made the motion, seconded by Dede Sanders and carried to add a discussion about signing a letter regarding Venture Global. Mitchel Kelley made a motion, seconded by Dede Sanders, and carried to approve the president to sign the letter of support for a Usage-Driven site designation within Foreign Trade Zone 291 for Venture Global Calcasieu Pass, LLC terminal site in Cameron, La.
The next meeting will be decided at a later date. There being no further business, Mitchel Kelley made a motion, seconded by Dede Sanders, and carried to adjourn the meeting.
