At the regularly scheduled meeting of the Lower Cameron Hospital Service District last Wednesday, the commissioners selected Hoffpauir/WHCL Architecture of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a joint venture comprised of the architecture firms Hoffpauir Studies and WHLC Architecture, to both design the new South Cameron Memorial Hospital in Creole and design and develop a repair/renovate plan for a temporary structure for use while the new hospital is under construction.
On Monday, Apr. 3, staff were on the destroyed campus in Creole scanning and reviewing the site. They also scanned the former Health Unit in Cameron that was damaged in Hurricane Laura. The hospital Board of Commissioners plans to request use of the building to repair and remodel and utilize as the temporary site. The request will be formerly made of the Police Jury at their April 12, 2023 meeting.
Visiting the site in Cameron on Monday, Apr. 3, were Police Juror Scott Trahan, District Attorney Tom Barrett, Police Juror Sonny McGee, Parish Administrator Katie Armentor, Hospital Service District Chairman Stephanie Rodrigue, Architect Joshua Hoffpauir, AIA, Partner in Charge, and Architect Jason Grier.
