‘Nothin’ but Sand’ beach cleanup event set

Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 invites you to its “Nothin’ But Sand” Youth Beach Cleanup Event on Saturday, Apr. 22.

Nothin’ But Sand Youth Day Cleanup is a great way to help keep our beaches and community healthy, safe, and clean. By picking up the trash that ends up at our beaches, we are protecting not only the ocean, but also beachgoers and marine animals from harm.

This event will be a great way to complete community service hours, have fun with your friends and family, and help keep our beaches clean.

After the beach cleanup, join them for a fun and exciting lunch (hamburgers, hot links, ice cream, bouncy house, games, and more) at the Johnson Bayou Recreation Center, located at 132 Berwick Rd. in Johnson Bayou.

Special guest representatives from the NOAA Turtle and Mammal Stranding Network will be on hand to explain what to do if someone encounters a stranding on the beach. (Knowledge is power.) The day will focus on the youth, but everyone can learn, work, and play as well.
