In order to address concerns of the recent tragic drownings at Long Beach in Johnson Bayou, the Cameron Parish Police Jury along with the Cameron Parish Beachfront Development Districts #1 and #2 installed beach warning signs from Mae’s Beach to Rutherford Beach to inform the public of possible dangerous rip currents.

Also, visitors to area beaches are strongly encouraged to stay off of the breakwater rocks. They are covered with algae, which can cause a person to slip into deep water and possibly drown.
