Floyd Mitchell East Sr. 89, of Lake Charles, died Saturday, Apr. 8, 2023.

He was born in his grandparents home in Grand Chenier.

He retired from Vulcan Metal Products and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was an international official for the United States Boxing Federation.

He is survived by his wife, Mable “Doodle” East, son, Floyd “Rocky” East Jr. and wife Callie; daughters, Monica East Martin and Kim and Jean Ann East; brother, B. J. “Poochie” East; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Philo and Inez Broussard East and granddaughter, Courtney East.

A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church on Thursday, Apr. 13, led by Father Andrew Derouen. Interment followed at Consolata Cemetery.
