South Cameron Students of Year named

South Cameron High

Maliyah Skipper is the 12th Grade Student of the Year at South Cameron High School.

Throughout her high school career, she participated in basketball, track and softball, as well as one year of cross country. She also participated in Sr. Beta, FBLA, and FCCLA for four years and Literary Rally for three years.

Skipper plans on going to college under a pre-med program to become a Pediatric Surgeon. She loves baking, art, and making money.

South Cameron Middle

Perrish O’Neil Roberts, is the 8th Grade Student of the Year at South Cameron High School.

He has enjoyed being a part of 4H, Jr. Beta, and eSports clubs. In his free time he likes to assemble LEGO structures and coordinate with his eSports team for outside practices and gaming opportunities.

He loves spending time with his family, traveling the United States and one day hopes to visit other countries and experience their cultures (especially the food). Not only does this 8th grader aspire to experience new things, he enjoys diving into history and looking beyond this world. He is hoping to have a career in Aerospace Engineering developing technologies for use in aviation, defense systems and spacecrafts.

Roberts has enjoyed being a Tarpon at South Cameron this year, walking the halls as his father and his father’s father did but, now he has an opportunity to chase his career path as he and his family relocate to Huntsville, Ala.

South Cameron Elementary

Remi Bourriaque is the 5th Grade Student of the Year at South Cameron High School.

Bourriaque has also been named the Cameron Parish 5th Grade Student of the Year.

She is the 10 year old daughter of Ryan and Megan Bourriaque. She has made Banner Roll each school year and is a Gifted and Talented Art student. She is actively involved in numerous clubs and sports and is currently the Elementary Beta Club President, Lady Tarpon Varsity Basketball manager, middle school basketball and softball team member, Cameron Parish 4-H member, and a Junior Tarpon cheerleader.

In addition, Bourriaque enjoys participating in community service activities that include the Love the Boot Earth Day cleanup at Rutherford Beach, Socktober for Abraham’s Tent, and the Autism Walk for the St. Nicholas Center for Children.
