Cameron Parish School Board met for their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, Dec. 4, at 510 Marshall St. in Cameron.
The following School Board Members were present: Marsha Trahan, District 1; Mitchel Kelley, District 4; Vickie Kiffe, District 5; and Sharon Picou, District 6; Telesha Bertrand, District 3; Joseph Delcambre, District 7; and Randall Faulk, District 8. Christi LaBove was absent.
After the prayer and pledge were exercised, a motion was carried to approve the agenda as well as a motion was carried to approve the Nov. 13, 2023 regular board meeting minutes.
Motion was carried to pay bills as presented by Michelle Trahan.
Asst. Dist. Attorney Mike Cassidy who is assigned to the School Board made a recommendation that an appraiser be appointed going forward to consider taking necessary action regarding Marsh Restoration Project on approximately 130 acres of land; motion carried to take action.
Motion carried to take action to amend prior settlement Agreement regarding Cameron School Board vs. Aspect et Al. No 10-18673.
Motion passed to approve Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with Cameron Parish Waterworks District 1.
Motion passed to approve a list of hearing officers in accordance with LA Revised Statute 17:441(B)(2). The list of five hearing officers approved are: Barry Roach, David Bruchhaus, Calvin Woodruff, James Lestage and John Richardson.
Motion passed to approve the following dates for 2024 Cameron Parish Board meetings, schedule as follows: Jan. 8; Feb. 5; Mar. 4; Apr. 15; May 13; June 10; July 8; Aug. 12; Sept. 9; Oct. 14; Nov. 4; and Dec. 9.
Superintendent Charley Lemons reported that he had met with Attorney Chad Mudd and the insurance had sent a $7.1 million check that has been deposited in a trust fund. Additionally, Lemons said he had had a recent in-person meeting with Venture Global representative Mr. Musser.
