The Minutes from the July meeting were approved. A motion was made by Ronald Nunez seconded by Shirley Gray all were in favor.
The financial report was approved. A motion was made by Ronald Nunez seconded by Shirley Gray, all were in favor.
Monthly bills were approved, a motion was made by Ronald Nunez, seconded by Gabe LaLande all were in favor.
Rusty Welch reported to the board he and Kara Bonsall have discussed issues and possible fixes for the Norh Cameron Protection Levee with FEMA. The levee has severe damage, normal water levels could cause flooding. Rusty will also meet with the police jury members to see if they could possibly help with funding.
Nathan Dondis with Gulf Inland Contractors will be doing work to some of the weir structures and breaches along the levee that were damaged in the storms. They will only be doing maintenance on the structures. They will not be making them operational. They will start work in October. They met with the drainage board to let people now what their work schedule will be.
Local fisherman attended the meeting hoping to find out what the future plans were for the weirs. Mr. Dondis answered the questions that he could. He did inform all concerned his company is only doing maintenance. The scope of work is coming from CPRA and is online at the CPRA website.
The public that attended the meeting ask Police Jury members Scott Trahan and Sonny McGee if they could possibly help with stopping from putting the weirs back operational. The both said they would help as much as they could.
A motion was made by Ronald Nunez to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Gabe Lalande, all were in favor.
