Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1

The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1 was held at 6:00 p.m., August 9, 2023 at the Cameron Parish LSU AgCenter Extension Office. Board members present were Mitchel Kelley, Thomas Cox, Marck Smythe, Gregory Gray, and James Boudreaux. Robert Trahan and Karl Styron were absent. Jeremiah Bult and Coy Vincent were also in attendance.
The meeting was called to order by Thomas Cox, who then asked for the reading of the minutes from the last meeting, June 29, 2023. A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by James Boudreaux, and carried that the minutes be approved as printed. A motion was made by James Boudreaux, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to approve the financial statement.
A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Gregory Gray, and carried to move the new business item, Discuss Audit, to the beginning of meeting so Coy could go over audit and be excused from the meeting. A motion was made by Gregory Gray, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to adopt the audit as it was presented by Coy. The audit was good with no findings other than the one finding due to the size of the entity.
In old business, the purchase of a new spray truck was discussed. Following are the prices received:
Billy Navarre Fleet – 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Regular Cab – $36,990
Billy Navarre GMC – 2023 GMC Sierra Regular Cab – $39840.00
Billy Navarre Dodge, Jeep – 2023 Dodge Ram Regular Cab $38750.00
A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by James Boudreaux and carried to accept the price for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado.
Next, James Boudreaux made a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to go into executive session, to discuss the pilot’s salary with Jeremiah. Gregory Gray, made a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to return to regular session. The pilot’s salary was tabled till the next meeting.
The next meeting will be decided at a later date. There being no further business, Mitchel Kelley made a motion, seconded by Gregory Gray, and carried to adjourn the meeting.
