Kenneth “Ozie” Fruge, 81, died on Friday, July 30, 2021.
He was raised in Jennings, and lived in Lake Charles for most of his life. After graduating from Jennings High School, he served in the National Guard before working as a barber in Sulphur. Afterwards, he became a maintenance pipefitter and union steward for PPG and worked there for 30 years before retiring. After retirement, he owned and operated Tubby’s Oyster House for 10 years.
He is survived by his brother, Brent Fruge of Jennings; children, Darren Fruge and wife Stephanie of Sulphur, Kayla Vallery of Sulphur, Keith Fruge and wife Emily of Lake Charles, Clint Fruge of Sulphur, Kelsey Fruge and husband Mowarhring Wangshol of Sulphur, and Caitlyn Miller husband Steven of Hackberry; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Eula Mae Fruge; and daughter, Angela Maddox.
In light of the recent rising number of Covid infections, the family chose to hold a private funeral service limited to immediate family only.
