George Dennis Hicks, 71, of Orange, Texas died.

He grew up in Hackberry. He worked for Dupont for 33 years and served as a Cameron Parish Sherrif’s Deputy for seven years.

Survivors are his three stepchildren, Wade Conner, Darrel Conner, and Spencer Conner; nine siblings, Terry Hicks, Anthony Hicks, Gordie Hicks, Raymond Hicks, Martha Welch, Tammy Welch, Laura Heckler, Frances Little, and Teresa Nunez 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Hicks; parents, George and Laura Hicks; and Willard Conner, Edward Conner and Nadine Conner.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Sept. 16, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hackberry. Burial was in Hackberry Community Cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Fr. Arvind Minz H.G.N officiated.
