The Cameron Parish Port Harbor & Terminal District met in regular session on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Port Board Building, Cameron, Louisiana at 5:00 o’clock PM.
Present: Howard Romero, Tremayne Picou, Kevin Vincent, Dwight Savoie, Thomas Cox, Vince Theriot, Alfred Devall
Absent: Jimmy Brown, Nathan Griffith, Sheila Miller, Brent Morales
Guests: Bryon Richard- Lonnie Harper & Associates
Parish Agencies: Kim Montie, Port Director, Tianna Dunaway, Asst. Port Director Tom Barrett- District Attorney, Chelsea Champagne- Assistant District Attorney
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Howard Romero.
Alfred Devall led the Pledge of Allegiance and Dwight Savoie gave the invocation.
There was no public comment.
On the motion of Mr. Cox, seconded by Mr. Savoie and carried the board approved the August 1, 2023 regular meeting minutes.
On the motion of Mr. Picou seconded by Mr. Cox and carried the board approved the treasurer’s report.
On the motion of Mr. Dwight, seconded by Mr. Picou and carried the board approved payment of the August 2023 bills.
The Board reviewed the actuals and the budget.
Under correspondence the board reviewed a thank you card from SWLA Alliance Development.
There were no reports from commissioners.
There was no old business. Under new business:
On the motion of Mr. Devall, seconded by Mr. Picou and carried the board gave the president authority to sign the resolution granting authority to Kim Montie to sign all documents related to Rural & Tribal Assistance Pilot Program Grant.
On the motion of Mr. Theriot, seconded by Mr. Vincent, and carried, the board approved the spending on the Economic Analysis Impact Study up to $10,000.
On the motion of Mr. Savoie, seconded by Mr. Cox and carried the board authorized sponsorship of
$1,500 for the Fur and Wildlife Festival.
On the motion of Mr. Vincent, seconded by Mr. Theriot and carried, the board approved the Lucy’s Land Holding’s survey and plat up to $3,000.
Mrs. Kim Montie gave a staff report. She updated the board on several grant programs, several meetings she has attended including the Legisgator Luncheon and the Tourism Summit. She also explained the Economic Analysis Impact Study to the board in detail.
The next regular meeting will be scheduled for September 19, 2023, at 5 PM at the Cameron Parish Port Building.
There being no further business and upon motion of Mr. Savoie seconded by Mr. Picou and carried, the meeting was declared adjourned.
