The Cameron Parish Port Harbor & Terminal District met in regular session on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at the Port Board Building, Cameron, Louisiana at 5:00 o’clock PM.
Present: Howard Romero, Tremayne Picou, Kevin Vincent, Dwight Savoie, Brent Morales, Thomas Cox
Absent: Jimmy Brown, Nina Jones, Nathan Griffith, Alfred Devall, Sheila Miller
Guests: Phil Zito- Advisian, Ted Daly- Advisian
Parish Agencies: Kim Montie, Port Director, Tianna Dunaway, Asst. Port Director, Tom Barrett- District Attorney, Scott Trahan- Police Juror, Butch Guidry- Police Juror
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Howard Romero.
Brent Morales led the Pledge of Allegiance and Dwight Savoie gave the invocation.
There was no public comment.
Phil Zito and Ted Daly with Advisian explained to the board a possible masterplan for the port. They both spoke about growing Cameron Port and explained processes regarding funding. They also answered any questions that the board had regarding the potential master plan. The board decided to discuss more amongst each other before making a final decision.
On the motion of Mr. Savoie, seconded by Mr. Cox and carried the board approved the April 25, 2023 regular meeting minutes.
On the motion of Mr. Picou seconded by Mr. Vincent and carried the board approved the treasurer’s report.
On the motion of Mr. Picou, seconded by Mr. Vincent and carried the board approved payment of the May 2023 bills.
The Board reviewed the actuals and the budget.
There was no correspondence.
There were no reports from commissioners.
Under old business the board received an update regarding the Phase I Environmental Assessment performed by Southland Environmental and discussed the soil borings.
On the motion of Mr. Picou, seconded by Mr. Vincent and carried the board approved the additional cost for the soil borings.
Under new business the board ratified the AOC Park installation bids and discussed the CEA and water bottom lease with state land office for AOC park.
On the motion of Mr. Morales, seconded by Mr. Cox and carried the board approved the ratification for the AOC Park installation bids.
On the motion of Mr. Morales, seconded by Mr. Picou and carried the board gave the president authority to sign the CEA and water bottom lease with state land office for AOC Park.
Mrs. Kim Montie gave a staff report. She updated the board on the LDWF meeting with industry stakeholders on spoil disposal sites, ATON removal, the 6 grantees for the AOC Park and articles about Venture Global.
The next regular meeting will be scheduled for June 20, 2023, at 5 PM at the Cameron Parish Port Building.
There being no further business and upon motion of Mr. Morales seconded by Mr. Picou and carried, the meeting was declared adjourned.
