Cecile Janet Austin, 70, died at her home in Beaumont, TX on December 31, 2022.

Janet was born in Lake Charles, and lived primarily there and in Sweet Lake until 2020. She graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1970. While earning her dual-degree at McNeese University (Class of 1982), she was President of the Student Body, on the Dean’s List and a member of Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.

She is survived by two sons, Jason Smith (Karen) and Andrew Richard, and a daughter, Jennifer Austin, all of Houston, TX; one sister, Mary Edwards Pace (Chriss), of Lake Charles, 5 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Tarver Austin, father, Cecil Joyner Austin and a half-brother.

A memorial service was held at J.E. Hixson and Sons Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Friday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m.
