Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson has announced that he will not be seeking re-election. His term will end June 30, 2024.
Sheriff Johnson started at the Sheriff’s Office Aug. 15, 1989. He has held the position of Corrections Officer, Patrol Deputy, Investigator, Field Training Officer, Accident Reconstructionist, D.A.R.E. Officer and Program Coordinator, Grant Writer, and Chief Deputy before running for office in 2011 and taking office July 1, 2012. He ran two more times assuming Office in 2016 and 2020.
Johnson said “My heartfelt appreciation goes out to you. It is a true pleasure working with you as a public, the diligent professionals at Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office and all the Public Entities. I am looking forward to serving you as Sheriff for the remainder of my term.”
