A Calcasieu Parish woman has been charged with attempted manslaughter and aggravated second degree battery in a stabbing incident around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon in Grand Lake.

Ashley Picou, 35, allegedly stabbed a female clerk at the Grand Lake Deli, 515 Hwy. 384, several times. “This was a fight that got out of hand,” said Cameron Parish Sheriff Ron Johnson. The two women reportedly knew each other.

Johnson said the victim received serious injuries but is recovering in a local hospital and expected to be released soon. Picou remains in the Cameron Parish jail under $100,000 bond for the attempted manslaughter and awaiting additional bail for the aggravated second-degree battery charge. No further charges are pending.
