Now available at the Grand Lake Library is a biography of Laura Faulk Demary Trahan.
Here is some of what can be found in the biography:
On the Big Lake Island across the ferry in northern Cameron Parish, twins Laura Mae “Doll” and Lawrence Lee “Neg” made their debut on Mar. 29, 1926 to Semar and Francoise (Hebert) Faulk, the last born of their nine children.
The family’s early years were marked with family tragedy, the Great Depression, and World War II.
Their story includes early settlers of the Faulk, Hebert, Demary (Demarets), and Granger families.
Included is a photo of three Grand Lake School classes from the 1930s which can be seen on Page 8.
Many descendants still live in the Grand Lake area.
