Yvonne Theresa Eagleson Mhire, 77, of Lake Charles passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. She was born on Jan. 9, 1946, to parents Hortense Eagleson and Claude Eagleson.
She married her husband of 59 1/2 years, Wendell N. Mhire on Dec. 14, 1963.
Yvonne went to work for Calcasieu Marine Bank at the Cameron Branch as a Book Keeper in 1966, and worked her way up to Branch Manager. She transferred to Hibernia Bank, then to Capital One Bank, and retired from the banking industry with over 45 years of service. She completed the American Institute of Banking School.
She was a president of the Cameron Recreation District 6, as well as a member of the American Business Women Association, and received an award on Apr. 1, 2011, as Business Woman of the Year. She was a very classy lady and was always very well-dressed everywhere she went. Yvonne was very involved in the Cameron parish community and was a director of the Cameron Fishing Festival.
Some of Yvonne’s favorite hobbies were working in her flower beds and would plant any flower she could get her hands on, dancing to French music, and LA Swamp Pop Music. She loved decorating the outside and inside of her home for the holidays, and was a member of the Krewe De Deaux Lac Mardi Gras Crew in Grand Lake where she and her husband were crowned King & Queen in 2004. She worked with the Cameron Lousiana Fur Wildlife festival Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters; Roberta Richard, Shirley Chesson, and Audrey Granger; her brother; Larry Eagleson; and nephew, Tony Richard.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 59 1/2 years, Wendell N. Mhire; and her siblings, Margaret Saltzman (Floyd) and Karen Badeaux.
Her final resting place is at Grandlake-Sweetlake Cemetery.
