Will Darbonne

Will “Billy” Rogers Darbonne, 88, of Hackberry passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022. Will was born May 16, 1934 in Hackberry to his parents, Morris and Dessie Spell Darbonne.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Hackberry and a graduate of Hackberry High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from August 1956 until August 1958. Billy worked as a maintenance operator at Conoco for 25 years where he retired in 1993. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry where he served as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Billy enjoyed Little Britches Rodeo for 45 years with his wife, Bobbie Jean.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Kent Darbonne (Michelle) of Hackberry and Keith “Weese” Darbonne (Donna) of Hackberry; his granddaughters, Kennedy Darbonne and Reagan Darbonne; family members, Tina Darbonne Landry (George) and Johnathan and Jaron Landry of Hackberry; Bonnie Darbonne of Westlake; Janice Constance of Mauriceville; Robert Large (Katy) and family of Carlyss; and a host of extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Bobbie Jean McGee Darbonne; his parents; his siblings, Nalls Darbonne, Evans Darbonne, Isabelle Darbonne Goodrich.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, July 15, with a Rosary service at 6:30 p.m. in St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church Hall in Hackberry. Cremation was entrusted to Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Hackberry Cemetery at a later date.
