Notice for OEP: Last week, state wide, there were 80 mosquito samples that tested positive for West Nile Virus. Cameron Parish had one positive sample from the Big Lake area. This area has already been sprayed by our plane since the sample was collected. Additionally, more spaying will be done with a truck, and will be treated by air again in the near future if the weather permits.

Citizens of Cameron Parish can protect themselves by reducing their exposure to mosquitoes especially during dusk, dawn, and night time hours, wearing long protective clothing, using mosquito repellent, and emptying any containers on your property that are holding water.
