Sheriff’s Office receives grant from Sempra Infrastructure

The Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office was recently awarded a grant from Sempra Infrastructure, through their Safe Communities Initiative.

This initiative is directed towards programs that help make communities safer. The grant is being used to purchase training equipment, including additional simulation kits and personal protective equipment, to expand existing programs within the Sheriff’s Office.

This equipment will allow us to increase the number and types of scenarios that are already being used for realistic training in building entries, building searches, active shooter response, and traffic stops.

Routine training allows deputies to practice making decisions under stress, conducting rescues during a shooting event and rendering initial medical aid. This gives the community a better trained deputy and will increase skill levels, which results in a safer and better trained response to a variety of situations.
