Several appointments made at Police Jury meeting

Cameron Parish Police Jury met for their Voting Session on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the West Annex – Board Room, 148 Smith Circle, Cameron

Meeting was Called to Order

Pledge of Allegiance/Prayer were executed.

There were no public comments;

Motion passed to Adopt Minutes from January 2024 meetings and Approve Add-Ons

Motions were passed to approve Permits for:

Colonial Pipeline Company – Johnson Bayou; ERM – Cameron, 163 Wakefield Road; Targa Resources, Inc. – Grand Chenier, Mermentau River Road; Walter Oil and Gas – Creole, Off Highway 27; Targa Downstream, LLC – Hackberry, Starks North Canal; and Sabine Crossing, LLC – Johnson Bayou, Sabine Pass.

Appointments

a. Beachfront Development District No. 1 – Tammy Erbelding, term expired; approved to reappoint.

b. Beachfront Development District No. 1 – Nikki Norman, term expired, approved to reappoint

c. Beachfront Development District No. 2 – Vickie Kiffe, term expired, approved to reappoint

d. Fire Protection District No. 10 – Richard Burbank, term expired, approved to reappoint

e. Gravity Drainage District No. 5 – Anthony Swire, term expired, approved to reappoint

f. Gravity Drainage District No. 8 – Marsha Delaney, term expired, approved to reappoint

g. Mosquito Abatement – James Boudreaux, term expired, approved to reappoint

o. Cameron Parish Port Harbor & Terminal District – Howard Romero, term expired, approved to reappoint

p. Cameron Parish Port Harbor & Terminal District – Jimmy Brown, term expired. Joseph DeVall, Sr. was appointed and approved to serve a 3 year term

q. On the Lower Cameron Hospital Board – Mark Daigle made a motion to remove Michelle Trahan and appoint Kevin Dupke. Jurors voted 4-2 in favor of removal. Voting in favor were: Sam Bordelon, Mark Daigle, Michael Fewell and Danny Meyers. President, Ronald Nunez abstained from voting and nay votes were from Sonny McGee and Johnny Watson. District Attorney Tom Barrett told jurors it must receive a 2/3 vote to pass. The motion did not pass.

r. E911 Board – Appoint Lester Whatley to Ward 6 Hackberry Open Seat was approved

Motion passed to Authorize Audit Engagement Agreement with Gragson, Casiday, & Guillory, LLP for the year ending December 31, 2023

The following Motions passed to Approve President Authority to Sign were:

a. Compliance questionnaire with Gragson, Casiday, & Guillory, LLP for the year ending Dec. 31, 2023

b. Lease with OMV for (1) Office Space and (3) Parking Spaces

c. Temporary Access Road Agreement to Venture Global, Contingent upon Venture Global posting a satisfactory road bond required by Road & Bridge Superintendent

Motion passed to Approve Pipeline Roadway Constructions Permits for Venture Global CP Express LLC for installation of a 48-inch steel natural gas by open cut crossing at the following roads: Parish Road 332, Parish Road 388 (Earl Road), Parish Road 350 (Murphy Lane), Parish Road 345 (Ruby Lane), Parish Road 313 (Conner Road), Old Dump Road (Limestone).

Motion passed to Approve Resolutions/Proclamations for:

a. R 1187 – Library Board of Control Per Diem

b. R 1188 – Wastewater District 1 Per Diem

Motion passed to Approve Change Orders: for Cameron Main Library for – Additional Structural Repairs Increasing contract amount by $23,037 for Concrete Honeycombing Repairs and increase contract time by 10 days.

Motion to Grant Authority to get Appraisal on property in Klondike for the Cameron Parish Library Klondike location

Motion passed to Grant Authority to Announce and Advertise a Public Notice of Intent to consider calling an election at the Mar. 13, 2024 meeting for:

Klondike Fire District No. 15, Hackberry Drainage & Gravity District No. 9, and Hackberry Fire District No. 1 The South Cameron Consolidated Waterworks No. 1 item on the agenda was tabled.
Motion passed to grant authority to advertise for bids for all 3 elements of the Mermentau Basin Inundation Relief Project funded under Community Block Grant.

Bids were discussed and rejected for Health Care Unit Building repairs and renovations for usage by South Cameron Memorial Hospital.

A mural at Holly Beach Fire Station and a historical marker for Cameron Courthouse were approved.

Motion passed to approve Bills to be Paid.
