The Cameron Parish School Board Meeting was held on Monday, Apr. 14, at 148 Smith Circle, Cameron Parish Police Jury-West Annex.
The following School Board members were in attendance: Marsha Trahan, Dist. 1; Christi LeJeune, Dist. 2; Telesha Bertrand, Dist. 3; Mitchell Kelley, Dist. 4; and Sharon Picou, Dist. 6. Members who were absent included: Vickie Kiffe, Dist. 5; Joseph Delcambre, Dist. 7; and Randall Faulk, Dist. 8.
The meeting was called to order and prayer and Pledge were conducted.
Motions carried to approve the agenda the board minutes of the Mar. 10, 2025 regular meeting of the Cameron Parish School Board.
Motion carried to approve Authorization of payment of the bills.
Motion carried to appoint Superintendent Charley Lemons as a CPSB member to sit on Local ITEP Committee.
Motion carried to approve authorization request for Apache levee repair and bank stabilization Sections 17/20/29 T14S R10E.
Motions carried to authorize Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. renewal of the following coverages:
Boiler and Machinery; Property (with a cap of $6.49 million); Disaster Management Services; Terrorism – both Liability and Property; and Cyber Liability (Covers the school district’s exposure related to privacy breach, digital restoration, security liability, release of student records, etc.)
Motion carried to approve renewal of 5-year agreement with Cameron Parish Cooperative.
Motion carried to approve funding for Cameron Parish students who qualified to attend National FBLA Conference being held in Anaheim, Calif. June 27 through July 3, in accordance with policy IDE in the amount of $1000 per student to help support the journey.
Motion carried to approve funding from Commonwealth Explorer Program for CPSB students attending Boys and Girls State Program in the amount of $500 per student.
Motion carried to approve funding from the Commonwealth Explorer Program for Grand Lake Elementary Jr. Beta Club to attend National Jr. Beta Convention in Orlando, Fla. from June 27 through June 29, in the amount of $500 per student.
After receiving information from Dr. Groft’s Economic Impact Study motion carried to accept the proposed plan.
Motion carried to add 4% increase to personnels’ 13th check allocation for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
Motion carried to adjourn the meeting.
