Commonwealth volunteers planted approximately 90 trees and shrubs

A team of Commonwealth LNG volunteers joined Cameron Parish employees in planting approximately 90 trees and shrubs around the Cameron Parish Courthouse complex Thursday, Apr. 10 in conjunction with Keep Louisiana Beautiful’s ‘Love the Boot’ Week.

The beautification project, funded by Commonwealth and directed by the Cameron Parish Facilities Maintenance office, provided landscaping improvements adjacent to the courthouse, west annex and jail.

While Commonwealth plans to start construction later this year on a major LNG facility to be located on the west side of the Calcasieu Ship Channel at the gulf outlet, the company continues to make meaningful contributions to the Cameron community. This has included the donation of a mobile healthcare unit to serve the Lower Cameron Hospital Service District and a foundational grant to Cameron Parish School Board to launch the ‘Explorer Program’ funding student travel to participate in leadership skills training programs and/or enrichment opportunities in science, technology, engineering or math.

Commonwealth President and CEO Farhad Ahrabi, who was among the company personnel providing ‘hands on’ community support at the courthouse landscaping event, said the initiatives are all in keeping with Commonwealth’s commitment to being a long-term partner in the health and welfare of its neighbors.

“We enjoyed working with Cameron Parish employees in enhancing the appearance of the courthouse complex,” he said. “We share their pride and appreciation in sustaining the beauty of this region and look forward to partnering on similar initiatives in the future.”
