Rhonda Mae Hebert Benoit is in God’s care. She passed away in the comfort of her home with her family at her side on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022.
Rhonda Mae was married to Alvin Glenn Benoit and worked as a security guard at Citgo Clifton Ridge, Gate 19, and the Truck gate for 12 years. She worked at ConocoPhillips at the docks for 6 years and BT1 at the port for 2 years. After Hurricane Laura she worked 84 hours a week in 100 degree heat.
She loved cooking for her family. She loved going fishing and when she learned how to cast net she wanted to go every day. Rhonda loved to go to festivals, concerts, and downtown at sundown. She loved old time rock-n-roll, country music, and Cajun music. Rhonda looked forward to Senior Bingo with her sisters and having lunch with her best friends. Her biggest regret is not spending more time with her children and grandchildren. Rhonda says to celebrate the joy in your life and look to Jesus – he will see you through this crazy world.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, Edward T. and Verdie Hebert; a brother, Edward E. Hebert; and her son, Justin T. Newton.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn; her children, Dean Newton (Sarah) and Laura Hiatt (James); and grandchildren, Hunter and Hannah Newton, Jeremiah, Marley, and Selah Hiatt, and Michelle, Madeline, and Amelia Newton.
Funeral services will be at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles at 11 a.m. on Friday Dec. 30, with Rev. Angela Bulhot officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Funeral Home and will continue on Friday from 10 until 11 a.m. Burial will be at Pujol Cemetery in the Old Settlement of Big Lake.
