Police Jury, School board meetings set

Both the Cameron Parish School Board and Police Jury have scheduled meetings for the upcoming week. The School Board will hold a special meeting on Thursday, Sept. 24, to receive updates on Hurricane Laura recovery and to consider repairs to Hackberry High School, tabled from the Sept. 14 meeting. The meeting will be held at Grand Lake High School.

School Supt. Charley Lemons says the staff is currently operating from the School Board annex located near the baseball field, but he plans to relocate to the Cameron Central Office by the second week of October. The building took minimal damage, with six feet of water in the downstairs lobby.

The Police Jury will hold its regular agenda and voting meetings on Thursday, Oct. 1, beginning at 10 a.m. in the West Annex meeting room in Cameron. At press time, the agenda included a discussion of a Cameron Parish Flood and Surge Protection Project during the agenda meeting, and acceptance of GOMESA Shoreline Protection Phase 3 bids for Little Florida during the voting meeting.
