Police Jurors approve seven member plan

Cameron Parish Police Jury met for their regular meeting on Thursday, Dec. 8. All members were present for the voting portion which most importantly included the long awaited decision on approving an ordinance that concerned Police Jury redistricting.

In a final vote, all jurors voted for a 7 member plan in which two jurors will be included in District 4 which according to 2020 Census has 1207 constituents living in that part of the parish.

The Pilot has included the color coded map here on page one with District statistics.

Other items approved were acceptance to proceed on Batch 3 PPDR Properties once the contractor is procured and contract signed as well as attorney for Building Inspector to sent Notice of Condemnation Hearing to all properties on Condemnation list for PPDR program Batch 4.

Brent Morales was appointed to Cameron Parish Port Harbor & Terminal District.

Police Jury meeting dates and holidays were approved for 2023. They are Jan. 9, Febr. 13, Mar. 13, Apr. 3, May 8, June 12, July 10, Aug. 14, Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11

The president was given authority to accept new Davis Road boat launch from Venture Global as completed. It will accomodate one recreational size boat at a time, smaller than the old Jetty Boat Launch, but with a longer ramp to help launches at low tide.

Jurors voted to approve Proces Verbal/Promulgation Resolution of proposition presented to voters in the election held Nov. 8, for In Lieu Of Ad Valorem Tax for the purpose of economic development and operating and maintaining all Parish Facilities in the parish.
