GLHS Hornets make All-District

Ten different Grand Lake Hornets have earned a spot on the District 4-1A All-District list.

First team: pitcher Rylan Young, outfielder Zac Manuel, outfielder Wyatt Wilkerson and catcher Law Faulk.

Second team: pitcher Bransyn Mudd, pitcher Landen Fontenot, first baseman Grayson Daigle, third baseman Kasen Quinn, and designated hitter Matthew Fitkin.

Rylan Young was named District 4-1A Most Valuable Player and head coach Tyler Alton was named District 4-1A Coach of the year!

We want to congratulate the Hornets on another fantastic season!

Grand Lake football schedule

The 2025 Grand Lake Hornets football schedule has been released to the public. This season the Hornets have filled in their Week 4 vacancy as they’ll make a road trip north to take on the Montgomery Tigers. The game was made possible due to Montgomery’s previous Week 4 opponent Tensas dropping their football program all together due to lack of participation and interest. So the Tigers needed to fill the open week and Coach Jeff Wainwright and his staff saw a great opportunity to pick up the game and have the opportunity to play against a quality opponent from the Alexandria/Natchitoches area.

The 2025 schedule is as follows.

• Friday, Aug. 30 – Welsh Jamboree vs Lake Arthur 5 p.m.
