Cameron Parish Recreation District 5 held its regularly scheduled meeting on October 15, 2026 at 6:00 pm.
The meeting began with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance led by Jordan Thompson.
The invocation was led by Kris Howerton.
Board President Jacob Babcock called the meeting to order and upon roll call the following members were present: Kris Howerton, Lindsey Bufford, and Jordan Thompson
Absent: Max Guthrie Employees in attendance were Lisa Ledano and Vickie Pickett
Guests present: Police Juror Ronald Nunez. Wendell Piper with HGA attended via Zoom.
A draft of the minutes of the previous meeting, September 17, 2026, was distributed to all board members via electronic mail prior to the meeting. Kris Howerton made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Jordan Thompson seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.

Mr. Piper addressed the board regarding various options for proceeding forward with demolition of the existing facility and building a new facility. He addressed FEMA requirements to rebuild in a different location along with concerns from the board regarding rebuilding at the current location versus rebuilding in a different location. He informed the board of the process of submitting invoices and proof of payment to FEMA for reimbursement and the turn around time for repayment of those invoices.
The board members present reviewed the invoices for the month of September 2026. Jordan Thompson made a motion to approve the bills. Lindsey Bufford seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
The financial statement for the month of September 2026 was distributed to all board members via electronic mail prior to the meeting. Kris Howerton made a motion to accept the financial statement as presented. Jordan Thompson seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
With no further business to discuss, Lindsey Bufford made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Jordan Thompson seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. Public comment: none.
