Abatement District No. 1

The monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of Cameron Parish Mosquito Abatement District No. 1 was held at 6:00 p.m., January 21, 2020 at the Mosquito Control office in Creole. Board members present were Mitchel Kelley, Marck Smythe, Gregory Gray, Nat Griffith, and Dede Sanders. Thomas Cox and Karl Styron were absent.
The meeting was called to order by Nat Griffith, who then asked for the reading of the minutes from the last meeting, December 11, 2019. A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Gregory Gray, and carried that the minutes be approved as printed. A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Gregory Gray, and carried to approve the financial statement.
In new business a motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Dede Sanders, and carried to keep all board officers the same as in the previous year.
Then the backup pilot contract was discussed. A motion was made by Gregory Gray, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to renew the contract with a new pay rate for application time to $230 per hour. All other rates will remain the same.
Then a motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Gregory Gray, and carried to approve the expenses to send Josh Hightower and Jeremiah Bult to the LMCA spring workshop in Baton Rouge.
Then record management was discussed. A motion was made by Gregory Gray, seconded by DeDe Sanders, and carried to approve a record management policy.
Then chemical bids and contingency aerial contract bids were opened and reviewed. Bids were as follows:

Gregory Gray, then a motion, seconded by Mitchel Kelley and carried to approve the lowest bids.
Then bids were opened for F-150 long wheel base single cab work trucks. The bids were as follows:
Bolton Ford, $20,551.00
Mike Willis Ford, $20,451.25
Courtesy Ford $21,250.00
These prices will remain in effect for this calendar year. If one dealer does not have this truck in stock later in the year, we will purchase from the next lowest bidder. A motion was made by Mitchel Kelley, seconded by Gregory Gray, and carried to accept the bids for the trucks and to purchase three F-150 trucks from Mike Willis Ford.
Then a discount was discussed for a purchase of Dibrom. We would receive the product at a cost of 2 percent lower than the 2019 price and Adapco will contribute one percent to LADDL, which is the lab that test mosquito samples statewide. The price per drum would be $6478.29 compared to the current bid price $6939.90. A motion was made by Gregory Gray, seconded by Mitchel Kelley, and carried to purchase 80 drums at the discount price.
The next meeting will be in March. The date will be decided at a later time. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
