Board of Commissioners Meeting
August 5, 2020
Meeting called to order at 4:45 p.m. by Chairperson, Mary D. Booth.
Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer were led by Mrs. Booth.
Board Roll call: Present – Mary Booth, Jo Ann Nunez, Melissa Kiffe.
Mrs. Booth read the agenda aloud.
No amendments to the agenda were proposed.
Mrs Kiffe motioned to approve the minutes from the last meeting, May 20, 2020. Second by Mrs. Kiffe. None opposed. Motion carried.
Director, Byron Broussard presented the director’s report for May, June and July 2020 which included, call volume reports, payments received on accounts, expense reports, cash asset report, and tax revenues received. A balance sheet was presented and reviewed. Expense reports were reviewed and signed by each present member. An account adjustment report was presented and signed by the meeting chairperson.
Mrs. Kiffe motioned to approve and accept the director’s report. Second by Ms. Nunez. None Opposed. Motion carried.
The board discussed the adoption of the millages for the 2020 tax year. The following resolution was read aloud and passed by the following vote.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the following millage is hereby levied on the 2020 tax roll on the property subject to taxation by the LOWER CAMERON PARISH AMBULANCE SERVICE DISTRICT.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper administrative officials of the Parish of Cameron, State of Louisiana, be and they are hereby empowered, authorized and directed to spread said taxes, as hereinabove set forth, upon the assessment roll of said Parish for the year 2020, and to make the collection of the taxes imposed for and on behalf of the taxing authority, according to law, and that the taxes herein levied shall become a permanent lien and privilege on all property subject to taxation as herein set forth, and the collection thereof shall be enforceable in the manner provided by law.
The foregoing resolution was read in full, the roll was called on the adoption thereof, and the resolution was adopted by the following votes:
YEAS: Michaeil Booth, Jo Ann Nunez, Melissa Kiffe.
NAYS: 0
ABSTAINED: 0
ABSENT: Christine Mooney, Patricia Primeaux.

Mr. Broussard discussed the sale of property at 113 Mildred Street, Cameron. He explained that he ran the advertisement for bids with the first appraisal price of $90,000. There were no responses to the ad. He also stated that the La. Legislative Auditor’s office advised that the district cannot accept payment for the property less than appraised value. As discussed at the last meeting, a second appraisal was ordered and came in at $50,000. He suggested that the board advertise for bids at the new appraisal amount. Ms. Nunez motioned to advertise for bids for the sale of the property and accept bids equal to or exceeding the new appraised value, as required by state law. Second by Mrs. Kiffe. None opposed. Motion carried.
Mrs. Kiffe motioned to adjourn the meeting. Second by Ms. Nunez. None opposed. Meeting adjourned.
