The Cameron Parish Tourist Commission met in Regular Session on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at the Cameron Parish Library, located at 10200 Gulf Hwy. in Grand Lake, La. The meeting was called to order at 1:35 p.m. with Chairman, Stephanie Rodrigue, presiding. The Prayer was led by Ms. Rodriquez and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Ms. Johnson.
Commissioners Present: Stephanie Rodrigue, Chairman; Carolyn Miller, Vice Chairman; Mary Johnson, Treasurer; and Patty Boudreaux, Secretary.
Absent: Tunie Dunaway, JoAnn Nunez and JoeAnn Labove.
Guests: N/A
Approval of Minutes: Upon motion by Ms. Johnson, seconded by Ms. Miller, and carried, the Minutes of March 1, 2023 were approved as presented.
Treasurer’s Report: Ms. Johnson presented the financial reports of February 2023. Ms. Rodrigue confirmed that Liability and Errors and Omissions Insurance was allocated to the commission in March. Upon motion by Ms. Boudreaux, seconded by Ms. Johnson, and carried, the financials were approved as presented, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part thereof.
Payment of Bills: Ms. Boudreaux presented a request to pay the annual membership dues for the Louisiana Travel Association in the amount of $465 for a Full Membership, with a review of the benefits. Ms. Rodrigue will request an update to the member listing to reflect current board members. Upon motion by Ms. Boudreaux, seconded by Ms. Miller, and carried, the bill was approved for payment.
Correspondence: Ms. Rodrigue will request a key for P O Box 388, Cameron, which is the mailing address for the tourist commission, in order to obtain future correspondence.
Old Business:
Occupancy Taxes: Ms. Boudreaux presented a current report provided by Kayla Johnson which reflects all collections February 2022 to February 2023. Ms. Rodrigue will research occupancy tax collections by online booking companies and remittance procedures.

Tent: Ms. Rodrigue mentioned that professional photos were donated by Mr. Gus Fontenot and were being reviewed for placement.
TripChat: 15 Points of Interest were finalized and Ms. Rodrigue mentioned that photos were currently being obtained for setup within the App. Ms. Rodrigue requested that an agenda item be added at the next meeting for the promotion of TripChat to local businesses.
New Business:
Louisiana Open Meetings Law: Ms. Boudreaux provided commissioners with information obtained from the “Good Government” training held recently at the school board office.
Promotional Items: Ms. Boudreaux reviewed existing inventory. After some discussion, upon motion by Ms. Boudreaux, seconded by Ms. Johnson, and carried, the commissioners approved a request to order the following from Work Designs: 1,000 sticky note books; 1,000 koozies; 500 frosted bags and 1,000 totes.
Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalists Conference: Ms. Miller presented a request to provide a bagged-meal from Brown’s Grocery in Hackberry to attendees at their evening meeting on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Hackberry Community Center at a cost of $7.99 per meal. Upon motion by Ms. Johnson, seconded by Ms. Miller, and carried, a maximum of 100 meals were approved for the visitors to Cameron Parish.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cameron Parish Library in Grand Lake, La.
Upon motion by Ms. Johnson, seconded by Ms. Miller, and carried, the meeting was adjourned at 2:54 p.m.
