Margaret Hebert

Margaret Marie Duhon Hebert, 91, of Grand Lake passed away at 10:31 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 at her residence in Saint Martinville.

Mrs. Hebert was born Dec. 27, 1929 in Lake Charles and was a lifelong resident of Grand Lake before moving to Saint Martinville after Hurricane Laura. She was a graduate of Grand Lake High School and worked many years at Boone’s Corner and later Speedy Tote, until her retirement in 1995. She also worked many years at the Cameron Parish Council on Aging. Mrs. Hebert was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the choir at both. She was also an avid reader and will be missed.

Mrs. Hebert is survived by her son, Ron Hebert of Saint Martinville; daughter, Roberta Brown and husband Jim of Lacassine; sisters, Lou Barilleaux of Westlake and Jennifer Duhon of Waco, Texas; good friend, Dinah Landry; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Hebert; son, Michael Ray “Flip” Hebert; parents, Alverd and Claudia Duhon; brother, Charles Duhon; and sister, Jeanette Duhon.

Her funeral mass was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 2, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Monsignor Jace Eskind officiated. Burial followed in Grand Lake Community Cemetery. Visitation was held at University Baptist Church, 4505 Lake Street, Lake Charles on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. Visitation continued on Tuesday at University Baptist Church from 12 to 1:30 p.m. until time of procession.
