Marcus A. Morgan, 47, of Grand Lake, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 7, 2022.

Marcus was born Feb. 4, 1975 in Lake Charles and was a lifelong resident of Grand Lake. He was a 1994 graduate of Grand Lake High School, where he played basketball and ran track, winning a state championship in Discus. After graduation, Marcus served in the U.S. Marine Corp for six years. He went on to work for Bristow Helicopters, where he worked for twenty years as an A & P Technician. Marcus loved spending time with his family and being outdoors. He enjoyed grilling and having family and friends over, loved to fish, hunt and loved being on the water. He treasured his evening rides in the field with his wife and dog Roux. He will forever be remembered as a kindhearted, giving man who loved his family dearly; he will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Marcus is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Caren Renee Chastain Morgan; sons, Tyler Christopher Morgan and Branden Joseph Morgan; parents, Charles and Charlene Morgan, all of Grand Lake; brothers, Erik Morgan (Racheal) of Grand Lake and Chris Morgan (Gennell) of Dunn, N.C.; brother at heart, Keith Guillory (Brenda) of Lake Charles; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A celebration of his life will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the Grand Lake Faith Temple, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Pastor Chris Howerton will lead the service and friends are invited to share stories about Marcus’s life. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the start of the service.
