SUMMARY OF MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Tourist Commission met in regular session on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the Cameron Parish Police Jury Conference Room. The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. with Chairman, Stephanie Rodrigue, presiding. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Ms. LaBove and the Prayer was led by Ms. Miller.
Commissioners present were: Stephanie Rodrigue, Chairman; Tunie Dunaway, Vice-Chairman; Carolyn Miller, Treasurer; Patty Boudreaux, Secretary; Mary Johnson, JoAnn Nunez and newly-appointed commissioner, Ms. JoeAnn LaBove.
The commissioners welcomed its’ newest member, Ms. JoeAnn LaBove of Hackberry, appointed to replace Mary Carroll. A copy of her Oath of Office is attached and made a part of these minutes.
Absent: None.
Guests: Wendy Harrington, Cameron Parish Police Jury Administrative Asst. and Liaison to Cameron Parish Tourist Commission. Guest and Grand-daughter of Ms. Dunaway, Tianna Dunaway.
Approval of Minutes: Upon motion by Ms. Dunaway, seconded by Ms. Nunez, and carried, the minutes of the December 18, 2021 meeting were approved as written.
Treasurer’s Report: December Financials were unavailable at the time of the meeting and will be emailed to commissioners once received.
Payment of Bills: Travel Expenses for Acadia Parish Familiarization Tour and Graham Group – Monthly Hosting
Correspondence: None
Old Business: Ms. Harrington – no reports.
DevDept – Contract Review
Upcoming Community Events – Upon motion by Ms. Miller, seconded by Ms. Boudreaux, and carried, the commission decided to move forward with the following events, providing Jambalaya, Water, necessary Paper Goods and Trash Cans; as well as Promotional Items:
Saturday, March 5th – Vendor Fair – Hackberry (Location TBD) -11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 26th – Holly Beach – Partnership with Darla & Steve Faul’s “6th Annual Spring Fling” held on their property in Holly Beach, featuring local vendors and musical entertainment by Barry Badon and the Bayou Boys later in the evening – 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 2nd – Vendor Fair – Johnson Bayou Recreation Center (Time TBD)
Saturday in May (Date and Time TBD) – Myers Landing, Klondike
The festival rack cards discussion was deferred and will be a standing item on the agenda until information can be gathered.
New Business: Commissioners were asked to think about “Branding” and “Colors” to be discussed at the next scheduled meeting, on Thursday, February 24, 2022.
Upon motion by Ms. Boudreaux, and seconded by Ms. Nunez, and carried, the meeting was adjourned at 3:51 p.m.
