LouEtta Nunez

On Monday, Aug. 16, 2021 LouEtta Nunez joined the angels in Heaven. She had strived all her life to meet her maker.

LouEtta, born May 15, 1936, was the last of eight children born to Jimmy and Matilda (Sturlese) Doxey. She loved her family dearly and the older children took care of their little sister. LouEtta married the love of her life, Boyd Nunez in 1955 and they raised three children, Dinah Beth, Randy and Kim. She was an avid sports fan following her children through football, baseball and basketball. She also enjoyed 4-H and was a volunteer. LouEtta loved children.

She served in the Cameron Parish School system for many years as a Special Education Aide, helping those children who needed the extra attention. LouEtta was thrilled to have grandchildren and great-grandchildren in later years. She even adopted another family as her own. She loved to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, New Years, 4th of July and any other major accomplishment. LouEtta loved crafts, making things with her hands was her relaxation. She enjoyed decorating her home.

LouEtta and Boyd lived in Oak Grove until 2020 when the hurricanes took her home away. But never fear, the couple moved into their storm home in Kinder next to great friends and set up housekeeping. And yes, she decorated the camp and it became a home. She was an organized person who cared for others. She was always looking for someone to help. She will be missed by all.

Those family members that preceded her in death included her parents, in-laws Red and Bernice Nunez, her brothers Billy, Sonny Boy, Oren, Robert and her sisters Verda and Bonnie.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Boyd Nunez; her daughter and son in law (Dinah and Toby Landry), her son and daughter in law (Randy and Lorrie Nunez), her son and daughter in law (Kim and Brandi Nunez), her son and daughter in love (Paul and Amy Gay); her grandchildren, Mallory and Jason Nunez, Tabitha Lambert (Bradley), Michael Scott Nunez; grandchildren in love, Gabby, Katherine, Michael and Phillip Gay, Kayla and Breanna DeVall, Tiffany Andrepont, and Corey Landry; her great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Lexie Cain, Matthew Lambert, and Kiyan Nunez; and her brother and sister in law, Waldon and Edna Doxey.

She leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and many special friends, including Greg and Carol Snider of Canada.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19, at the Vineyard Church. Dr. Ray Shawa will officiate. Burial will follow in Sweetlake – Grand Lake Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the start of the service.
