Lanis James “Bud” Viator, 81, of Lake Charles, died at his home on Sunday, June 14, 2020.

He was born in Hackberry. After graduating from Sulphur High School in 1957, he served in the U.S. Army. He returned to Lake Charles.

He was survived by his daughters, Anna Catherine Viator, Joël Redd (Matt), both of Lake Charles, and Amanda Viator of Arizona; one granddaughter; sisters, Lois Bachelor of Lake Charles, and Jean Viator of Indianapolis, Ind.; and one brother, Terry Viator of Lake Charles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Octar and Edith Hebert Viator; wife, Mary Ann Maxey Viator; and one sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, June 19, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Lake Charles. Msgr. Harry Greig officiated. A private family burial at Graceland Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles followed. He was laid to rest in Saint Benedict.
