Cheryl Parks

Cheryl Lynn Parks, 61, died on Sunday, June 14, 2020, in Lake Charles. She was born in Leesville. She grew up and spent most of her life in Cameron. In 2005, she became a resident of Lake Charles where she lived until her passing.

She was a graduate of South Cameron High School and McNeese State University. After college, she was an assistant girls’ basketball coach at South Cameron High School. She worked as the office manager for Production Filter Sales for 33 years.

She was a member of New Covenant Faith Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member. She previously served as the financial secretary, a Sunday and Bible school teacher, and member of the choir at Macedonia Baptist Church in Cameron. She was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

She is survived by her mother, Aline Johnson; two sisters, Linda Felton and Katrice Hawkins; four brothers, Dr. Homer H. Williams Jr., George Tinsley, Dwight Johnson and Tony Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Parks; and one brother.

Service was held Friday, June 19, at New Covenant Faith Baptist Church. Entombment followed at Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Stevens’ Funeral Home.
