BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS
The Board of Commissioners of Lower Cameron Hospital Service District met in Regular Session Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 4:00 pm, at the Cameron Parish District Attorney’s office, in Cameron, Louisiana. Members present were Chairman Stephanie Rodrigue, Vice-Chairman Mary Canik, Vickie Kiffe, Tredale Boudreaux, and Shawn Bonsall. Guests in attendance were Cameron Parish District Attorney Tom Barrett, Cameron Parish Police Juror Scott Trahan, Sheila Miller, Cameron Parish Coroner Kevin Dupke, M.D.
The meeting was called to order by Stephanie Rodrigue, Chairman. A quorum was determined. There were no public comments.
Upon motion by Mary Canik, seconded by Vickie Kiffe, the agenda was unanimously approved.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Tredale Boudreaux, the Minutes of the April 2023 Regular Meeting were unanimously approved.
Cameron Parish Coroner Kevin M. Dupke, M.D., addressed the Board of Commissioners of the Lower Cameron Hospital Service District and provided copies of his letter that was published in the Cameron Parish Pilot reiterating his opposition to rebuilding South Cameron Memorial Hospital.
Sheila Miller addressed the Board of Commissioners as a citizen and taxpayer of lower Cameron Parish, expressing her gratitude and appreciation for the contractual commitment to rebuild South Cameron Memorial Hospital and provide a temporary clinic in the interim.
Upon motion by Tredale Boudreaux, seconded by Vickie Kiffe, unanimously authorized the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Lower Cameron Hospital Service District to sign a resolution and contract with Jones Walker Law Firm to represent the Lower Cameron Hospital Service District for advice and obligations arising out of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Western District of Louisiana, Lake Charles Division.
Upon motion by Shawn Bonsall, seconded by Mary Canik, authorized the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Lower Cameron Hospital Service District to sign a Resolution to approve Hurricane Rita PW 3502 change order in the amount of $181,383.91 to closeout said PW in the absence of the required signature at the time of formulation of the change order and former general counsel’s unwillingness to execute same.
Upon motion by Tredale Boudreaux, seconded by Vickie Kiffe, the Financial Report was unanimously approved.
Upon motion by Mary Canik, seconded by Shawn Bonsall, bills were unanimously approved to be paid.
It was noted that the next regular meeting was previously scheduled for Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 4:00 pm at the Cameron Parish District Attorney’s Office, in Cameron, Louisiana.
There being no further business, upon motion by Tredale Boudreaux, seconded by Vickie Kiffe, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 4:34 pm.
