John Nunez, Jr., 57, of Vinton died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, in a local hospital.

He worked for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve since 1999. He began as security guard with the Texas location, working his way up to a control room operator. In 2012, he transferred to the Hackberry location. He was a member of LRG Hunting Club in Singer.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Nunez; four children, Marixa Gutierrez (Antonio) of Sulphur, Jeffrey Nunez (Adrienne Hall) of Sulphur; Krista Purvis (Matt) of Texas; Kaitlyn Nunez (Steven Schexnayder) of Sulphur; nine grandchildren; parents, John Nunez, Sr. and Josephine Nunez of Clute, Texas; and sisters, Diane Nunez and Jo Ann Nunez.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 25, at First Baptist Church of Carlyss under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Bro. James McCartney officiated.
