Joe Anna Gary, 88, of Lake Charles, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, following a lengthy illness.

She graduated high school in 1952. She was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She worked for J.C.Penny for 33 years, retiring in 1997 as a supervisor.

She is survived by her son, James C. Gary, Jr. (Jeannie) of Westlake; daughters, Debra Cobb, (Donald), also of Westlake, Tina Marcantel, (David) of LeBleu Settlement, Helene Massey (Tim) of Grand Lake, and Jolene Monlezun (Lawrence) of Nacogdoches, Texas; sister, Barbara Angie of Lake Charles, 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sylvia Elmer Calloura; and husband, James C. Gary, Sr.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, in Lake Charles. Monsignor Jace Eskind officiated. Entombment followed at Consolata Cemetery.
