DISTRICT NO. 8

There was a regular meeting of Gravity Drainage District No. 8 at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25, 2021, at the Grand Lake Waterworks Office.
PRESENT: Jake McCain, Marsha Delaney, Terry Smith, James Cox, Tommy Arceneaux
ABSENT: None
GUESTS: Matt Crador, Nick Crador, Clay LeMaire, Butch Guidry, Jake Nunez
On motion of James Cox, second by Tommy Arceneaux and carried, the minutes of the of the March 11, 2021 meeting are approved.
On motion of Tommy Arceneaux, second by James Cox and carried, the Finance Report through April 30, 2021 was approved as presented by the Secretary.
During the public comment period, Butch Guidry addressed the board about rain driven drainage issues in Big Lake. He asked the board to clean lateral 19A. He also asked for the board to assess drainage issues on N Precht Road. Jake Nunez expressed concern about drainage issues in Grangerville and suggested installing a pipe and flap gate to help prevent the backflow that is flooding his neighborhood.
On a motion of Tommy Arceneaux, seconded by James Cox and carried, the board approved the following permits as presented by the secretary:
a. LCUP #210409 – United World Energy Corp – install 3 inch flowline
On motion of Terry Smith, second by Tommy Arceneaux and carried, the following resolution is duly adopted:
RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED, that the following millage is hereby levied on the 2021 tax roll on all property subject to taxation by Cameron Parish Gravity Drainage District No. 8:
Maintenance, MILLAGE – 2.57 mills
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper administrative officials of the Parish of Cameron, State of Louisiana, be and they are hereby empowered, authorized, and directed to spread said taxes, as hereinabove set forth, upon the assessment roll of said Parish for the year 2021, and to make the collection of the taxes imposed for and on behalf of the taxing authority, according to law, and that the taxes herein levied shall become a permanent lien and privilege on all property subject to taxation as herein set forth, and collection thereof shall be enforceable in the manner provided by law.
The foregoing resolution was read in full, the roll was called on the adoption thereof, and the resolution was adopted by the following votes:

ABSENT: None
On motion of Tommy Arceneaux, second by Marsha Delaney and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
