Jimmy Granger

Jimmy Ernest Granger died Friday, Mar. 25, 2022 at the age of 80, a day shy of his 81st birthday, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

He was born and raised in the Granger Cove area of Grand Lake. He graduated as valedictorian from Grand Lake High School in 1959 and went on to obtain his degree in mechanical engineering from McNeese State College where he was a member of the ROTC. He served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant in war time for two years (1964-1966) in Vietnam.

During his career as a mechanical engineer, he worked for F. Miller and Sons, DW Jessen, Cities Service, and managed SPR sites for DynMcDermott and Boeing Petroleum.

He was survived by his wife, Linda Fontenot Granger; daughters, Cindy Granger Dore’ and husband Chad, and Leslie Granger Curol and husband Bryan; four grandchildren; and sister, Juanita Granger Ethridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aladin and Eva Granger; and two brothers.

A mass of Christian burial took place at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church on Monday Mar. 28. Burial including military honors followed at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles.
