Hilda Swire

Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Vincent Swire, 78 of Grand Chenier, will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Carroll Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mrs. Swire began on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 5 p.m. and ended at 8 p.m. It will resume Thursday morning at 8 a.m. and continue until time of service at 10 a.m.

Mrs. Swire was born in Lake Arthur but moved to Grand Chenier as a young girl and lived there for the past 61 years. She enjoyed cooking and her children considered her an amazing mother with a ton of compassion for everyone. She was very family oriented and enjoyed any time she could be with her children, grandchildren and family. She worked for the Cameron Parish Police Jury as a Site Operator.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marlene Swire of Lake Arthur and Nancy (Jeff) Hunter of Phenix City, Ala.; five sons, Dudley “Punkin” Swire, Rudolph (Charlene) Swire, Roy Keith (Andrea) Swire and Ceasar Anthony (Judy) Swire, all of Grand Chenier and Asa Swire of Lake Arthur; two sisters, Alice (Charles) LeJeune and Brenda (Reginald) Kober, both of Jennings; nine grand-children; and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Joseph Swire; parents, Emile and Dorothy Vincent Broussard; three sisters, Mary Hardy, Francis Monceaux and Evelyn LeJeune; and seven brothers, Lawrence, Lee Roy, Clarence, Willy, Joseph, Hillard and Albert Broussard.
