Gertrude Ruth Pottorff, 100, of Denton, Texas died on June 8, 2020, in Denton.
She was born in Tulsa, Okla. She attended Central High School in Tulsa, Okla., She worked in the war effort while her husband was in the European Theater in Patton’s Army. She and her family lived for a short time in San Pedro, Calif. She moved to Maplewood with her family in 1947. She worked as a secretary at Cities Service Refinery. She was church pianist playing both the piano and organ in many of the churches pastored by her husband, John, especially Hackberry and Creole and as well as Texas and Oklahoma pastorates.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodson John Pottorff Jr.; and parents, to George W. Satterfield and Emma M. Wilburn.
Survivors include her children, Jimmie Doyle, Judith Danella, Johnny Dee, Timothy Paul and Thomas Scott; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-greatgrandchildren from Florida to Georgia to Louisiana and Texas and Oklahoma.
Graveside service was held at the Memorial Cemetery in Tulsa, Okla. on Friday, June 12.
