The Grand Lake Hornets earned a huge road victory last week at DeQuincy to start the regular season 1-0.
The Hornets jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to a couple of DeQuincy turnovers. However the Tigers would quickly respond and take a 14-13 lead going in at halftime. That score would remain the same going into the fourth quarter but the Hornets made some adjustments and regained the lead. However on DeQuincy’s next drive, they would tie things up 20 all. Mason Babineaux would return the ensuing kickoff 82 yards for the score and with the extra point following as Grand Lake regained the lead 27-20.
DeQuincy’s next drive resulted in a punt and Grand Lake took full advantage of their final drive which resulted in a 44 yard sprint to the end zone by Zac Manuel to seal the 34-20 victory!
