Ferry status available in real-time

Louisiana residents have several ways to find out the operational status of the Cameron Ferry.

On the “How Do I?” section of the DOTD homepage, click “Find ferry & bridge status.”

The public can view the status of the Cameron Ferry, along with other ferries operated within the state. Information on ferry schedules, routes and crossing, type and capacity, as well as detours, is also provided. The website also lists the statuses of the movable bridges statewide.

Updates on the Cameron Ferry can also be found on Twitter.

The public can access real-time information on when ferry service is interrupted or restored. DOTD also has Twitter pages for the Plaquemine, Chalmette, Duty and Canal Street ferries.

Information on the Cameron Ferry is also available on 511la.org.

An icon will indicate whether the ferry is in service, depending on the color. Green indicates the ferry is running; orange represents partial service; and red means the ferry is out of service.

The public can also download the 511 mobile app to get information on the ferry.
