MINUTES
The Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District #1 Commission met in regular session on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Johnson Bayou Community Center. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Chairman Michele Long, who led the pledge and prayer.
Commissioners present were Chairman Michele Long, Vice Chairman Russell Badon, Tammy Erbelding, and Secretary Cindy Snead. Nikki Norman and Chad Cooper were absent. There were no guests.
On the motion of Tammy Erbelding, seconded by Russell Badon, and carried, the minutes for the October 9, 2023 meeting were approved as presented.
Old Business:
The Holly Beach sub-committee discussion was tabled until the next meeting.
Parish Economic Revitalization and Resilient Infrastructure Grant as well as the Creole Nature Trail Restroom Facility Grant were discussed. Michele Long reported on a meeting with Ronnie Letson, Cintas Facility Service Representative, and the details of Cintas possibly servicing the restroom facility in the future.
The board discussed possible projects utilizing Cheniere’s and Conoco Phillips’ donations. More information will be gathered and presented to the board regarding Holly Beach wash stations and subdivision welcome signs at the February board meeting.
New Business:
On the motion of Russell Badon, seconded by Tammy Erbelding, and carried, the board approved the October financial report.
On the motion of Tammy Erbelding, seconded by Russell Badon, and carried, the board will begin preparing for the “Love the Boot” Beach Cleanup on April 20, 2024.
The election of 2024 officers was tabled until the next meeting.
Open Session:
Russell Badon reported that the parish will receive 8 loads of limestone mix from Venture Global and also rip-rap from private individuals in Johnson Bayou; all donated material will be placed on Long Beach Road.
Gardner Goodall with CRCL is working on a marsh planting project for this spring/summer and has asked for possible locations. The board will reach out to the community to see if there are any sites that could benefit from a CRCL project.
The Cameron Parish Beachfront Development District 1 Bylaws were filed with the Cameron Parish Clerk of Court on December 15, 2023.
Board members were reminded to complete both Ethics and Prevent Sexual Harassment trainings by the end of February.
The Constance Beach signs have washed away. A work order will be sent to the parish asking for the signs to be replaced.

The next meeting will be February 12, 2024 6:00 p.m. at the Johnson Bayou Community Center.
